"Wissen bedeutet nicht, dass man sich zu 100% sicher ist, sondern dass man über genügend Fakten verfügt, um eine begründete Meinung zu haben.
Weil viele Menschen beleidigt sind, wenn Wissenschaftler ihre Meinung ändern: Nein, nein! Das ist normal!
Wissenschaft ist gerade, dass sich die Meinung ändert, wenn sich die Faktenlage ändert.
Wissenschaft ist nämlich keine Heilslehre, keine Religion, die absolute Wahrheiten verkündet.
Und wer ständig ruft „Folgt der Wissenschaft!“, hat das offensichtlich nicht begriffen.
Wissenschaft weiß nicht alles, ist aber die einzige vernünftige Wissensbasis, die wir haben. Deshalb ist sie so wichtig."

Research interests
Most of my work is focussed on light metallic materials and materials for energy conversion and storage as well as on methods needed to explore their structure.
Among the materials studied are aluminium alloys and aluminium foams. Energy conversion and storage systems include fuel cells and batteries.
The methods applied include imaging techniques such as radiography and tomography based on X-rays (from tubes and synchrotron sources) and neutrons.
